The relationship between land, labour and remuneration is crucial to understand caste and capitalist exploitation of human and natural resources and to understand people’s struggle for equality and justice. This book series addresses the role of caste in integrating labour into the production processes and introduces materialist analyses of labour to the burgeoning literature of critical caste studies. We seek to understand the changing dynamics of land ownership, commodity markets, work and remuneration, migration experiences, and political imagination in relation to labouring lives, within both South Asia and its diaspora. Adopting a political economy and critical caste approach, the series considers caste and class together, presenting new narratives and histories of working people's resistance.
